Redemption Saturday was a success for your North Iowa Knights Semi Pro Football team from Early. The Knights (2-2) traveled to Nebraska Lawdawgs (2-2) and did just enough to beat the Lawdawgs who got the best of the Knights week 2 of the MFL season 8-6 in a wet muddy battle.
The Knights are now 3-0 on the road and 3-2 over-all and tied for 1st place in the MFL North Division. Nobody expected a shootout after the low scoring week 2 match-up but we got it.
The Knights were lead on Offense by speedy WR Isaac Riesselman (Carroll) who had a career day with 7 TD’s on the day. Six of those TD’s came from the arm of Knights starting QB Sam Spencer (Rockwell City) and the other came on a 70 yard Kick-Off return the Special Teams set up well and the Lawdawgs had no chance of catching Riesselman.
Knights also had another great day on the ground with Chandler Scott (Glidden) going for over 100 yards and running in a 2pt conversion.
The Knights other points came on a 2pt conversion from WR DJ Hocken (Manning).
Coach Shoesmith said
“Sam did a great job getting us into the right play from scrimmage and the OL is getting better every game”.
The Knights defense may not of had their best day but did just enough for a win.
A couple Knights played both-ways about the whole game lets credit Maysen Lupkes (Estherville) and Jordan Shoesmith (Carroll) their heart and dedication helped the Knights to victory.
Jennifer Witzke (Schaller) Knights Team President said
“this team has so much heart they don’t quit and so much fun to watch”.
Jennifer went on to challenge Knights fans and the community to pack Knights field in Early for Saturday night’s rival battle with the Northwest Iowa Bulldogs 7pm kick-off!
This will be for first place in the division but even more bragging rights!
Knights Football is for the whole family so bring them all to help root your North Iowa Knights on to victory!
