The Stampede started off slowly scoring only 15 points in the first half but their defensive line played big preventing any kind of rushing attack the entire game and held the Stallions to 6 points the first two quarters of play. Middle linebacker Marcel Moody had 8 tackles during the game and defensive end Jesse Wavrunek added four more plus two sacks. The Stampedes defensive line held the Stallions to 50 total yards rushing the entire game.

After starting off a little cold in the first half the Stampede offense brought the heat in the third quarter matching their total points in the first half. The defense also helped out the offense with an 80 yard pick six from Brandon Howard to give the Stampede a 22 point third quarter.

Heading into the fourth quarter the Stampede had a comfortable 37-6 lead and added two more touchdowns before the game ended. Last year’s Midwest Football Alliance rushing leader, Larry Taylor, rushed for 180 yards to control the ground game for the Stampede and quarterback Jose Laureano passed for 167 total yards and rushed for 51. He also rushed for a touchdown and threw a touchdown in the third quarter to Josh Collins (pictured left) who finished with 67 yards receiving.

The Stampede play the Lincoln Renegades this weekend here in Siouxland at the Leeds field. Get out there and support your Sioux City Stampede!!
