Le Mars Moves On

Le Mars boys basketball opened their first state tournament in 15 years yesterday against Dallas Center Grimes.  Both Le Mars and DCG came into the Class 3A game with 21-4 records looking to best the other school.  All stater Tyler Borchers, who leads the team in points, rebounds, assist and steals, was in foul trouble most of the game but still managed to score 9 points.  He spent ten minutes on the bench but that didn’t slow down Le Mars attack.  They had a big game from senior Tyler Paulson who went 15-19 at the free throw line and finished with 21 points.  Caleb Cline had 9 points while Pete Meis had 12 points.  Trenton Hillbrands, the only non-senior starter, played at 32 minutes of the game and finished with 5 points.   They won 59-51.

Le Mars only losses were to Siouxland schools.  They lost to Sioux City East and Sioux City North both 4A schools and the other two losses they avenged in sub-state.  They plan on using this momentum tomorrow night’s match against a strong Williamsburg team at 6:30.  Congrats and keep up the great work Le Mars!!
