The Warriors grabbed the opening tip from opponent Sioux City East this past Friday night but SB-L wasn’t as fortunate the rest of the first quarter. The boys definitely hustled up and down the court but countless balls bounced around the hoop and wouldn’t fall through. Of course, three 3-pointers from the Black Raiders didn’t help either, providing a 14-point score gap in favor of the guests.

The tables were turned as the clock reset. Keegan Savary hit the first three for the Warriors and Chris Kroll went on to drain three more 3-pointers. SB-L worked incredibly hard to outscore East 22-7 in the second quarter and gained a 1-point lead going into the half.

Kroll led Sergeant Bluff for the night with 21 points. Savary was the other Warrior in double-digits with 10 points.

With the score so close, both teams were ready for a back-and-forth battle. Kroll hit another three late in the third but EHS was quick to respond with a 3-point play off a fouled shot.

Onto the fourth, Jacob Shultz was sent to the line and swished the “and-1”. Jackson Wright contributed a 3-pointer for the Warriors and Savary also sunk another three.

SB-L stayed close in the final minutes with a steal by Kroll taken down the court for a layup. However, the effort was not enough to regain the lead.

The Black Raiders took home the win just 51-59, the same 8-point difference from the game at East High previously this season. SB-L is looking to improve their winning record of 8-7 as they travel to Denison and host a rematch with Sioux City North this upcoming week.
