The Sioux City Stampede Are Still Undefeated

11205078_10152741385225981_8502185824182243350_nThe Sioux City Stampede remain unbeaten on the season and their latest victim was the Quad City Wolfpack this past weekend.  The Stampede started off quickly scoring first but Quad City responded to take the lead with a pick six to go up 7-6.  The Stampede then scored 25 straight points to finish the first half for a 31-7 lead.  They didn’t look back from there outscoring Quad City 27-22 to win the game 58-29.

The offense was spread all over the field again for the Stampede with both starting quarterback Jose Laureano and backup Scott Manley throwing touchdowns.  Laureano threw six touchdowns for 253 yards and Manley threw one touchdown and finished with 114 yards.   The rushing stats this weekend were a little one sided with Larry Taylor taking the reigns and rushing for 202 yards and two touchdowns.  Five other players rushed the ball for a total of 40 yards between them but it was the passing again that proved to be the dagger.  The Stampede connected with 11 different receivers and nine of them gathered double digit yardage.  They were lead by Joshua Collins who had 7 receptions for 153 yards and four touchdowns followed by Warren Joiner who had 70 yards and one touchdown.  Tyrek Robinson had 38 yards with one touchdown and Brian Stapleton contributing a touchdown with his 18 yard reception.

19590_10152741383840981_3439582267218363838_nThe defense this season has been solid and with another game in the books they are continuing their winning ways with everyone on the team contributing to the effort.  All 30 of the defensive players had at least one tackle during this game.  Mike Trobaugh had 10 total tackles, five deflections and one forced fumble that was recovered for a 35 yard gain.  Tyler Phelan had another impressive game with 7 total tackles followed by Marcel Moody who had eight total tackles and Jason Mertz had six total tackles.  The Stampede defense had 4 forced fumbles recovering one of them and 10 deflections.

The Sioux City Stampede have outscored their opponents 186 to 41 giving up 29 of those points to the Quad City Wolfpack.  They have a bye weekend and look to continue their winning ways against another Siouxland team the North Iowa Knights in Pomeroy, IA on the 23rd.  Wish all of these Siouxland Athletes luck!!
