Stampede Win Again

The Sioux City Stampede came out again this past weekend with another impressive win. Proving again why they are the team to beat in the Midwest Football Alliance.

The Stampede hosted the Fargo Invaders on Saturday at the South Sioux City Sports Complex and it was far from an invasion. Right off the bat, the Stampede forced a turnover which led to a hard fought TD reception by Brett Van Muyden for a 7-0 lead. The Invaders did rebound, however, tying it at 7 all but that was the last tie of the game and the Stampede soon started to walk away with the win.

Scott Manley, QB of the Stampede, had a rushing TD to put his team up 13-7 in the first quarter and they never looked back. Scoring two more touchdowns in the second quarter the Stampede took a 27-14 lead into halftime.

With big rushing performances from both Larry Taylor and TJ James, the Stampede seemed to get their rushing game back on track. Larry Taylor came out with a huge 181 yard performance and scored 2 touchdowns while teammate TJ James had 132 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Backup QB Dorian Ballentine also added a rushing TD.

The defense also held their own against the Invaders offense with Joshua Collins intercepting a  pass and returning it for a touchdown and Mike Trobaugh getting his hands on 3 deflections. Jason Warren and Corey Wortman wreaked havoc on the Invaders with a total of 19 tackles between the two of them setting the pace for the Stampede defense.

The Fargo Invaders did show resilience but with low numbers on the sidelines, the heat, and an always hungry Stampede team it was definitely an uphill battle.

The Sioux City Stampede are now 3-0 on the season and will host the Kansas City Bulldogs June 24th. The Bulldogs currently sit at the top of league standings at 5-0 and also have some pretty impressive wins. This is one game you will not want to miss. Head out there and cheer on your Sioux City Stampede!!
