Sioux City East Volleyball Team Moves On To The Region 1 Championship Match

The Sioux City East volleyball team cruise to an easy victory as they sweep cross town rival Sioux City North in the Class 5A Region 1 semifinals last night.

Sioux City East had a bye in the first round where Sioux City North beat Sioux City West in a very close contest winning in four sets 25-23, 25-20, 23-25, and 25-14 to make the semifinal matchup against East.

The 14^th ranked Black Raiders took advantage of their time off and had big performances from juniors Lexi Lapke, who had 17 digs and 16 kills, and Kennedy Franko, who had 16 assists.  Sioux City East beat the North Stars 25-12, 25-14 and 25-14.

The 30-10 Black Raiders will now travel to Ankeny Tuesday night to compete against 7^th ranked Ankeny Centennial.  Ankeny Centennial is also coming into the championship having swept their opponent, Waukee, in three convincing sets 25-15, 25-10 and 25-14 setting this up to be a great match.
