Patriots Move On

The Lincoln Patriots won the opening tip and then controlled the first quarter.

Sr. Simon Higgason started the scoring with a 3 pointer and then the Patriots immediately forced a turnover for another two by Sr. Carson Coulter. Alex Glanzer added another 3 seconds later to make it an 8-0 game within the first minute.

The Huron Tigers average 57 points per game but were taken out of there game by the Patriots quick start but would slowly manage to find points and stick around for a 12-7 first quarter.

In the second quarter both teams came out more relaxed and showed their composure. Exchanging baskets and turnovers Tigers scored 7 points and the Patriots scored 5 to head into halftime with a 22-19.

The Huron Tigers came out with a chip on their backs. They thought they were the better team and for the next two quarters proved they were, outscoring the Patriots 27-24. In what proved to be a complete opposite game the second half Huron proved that they could not only hang with the Patriots but that they could take the lead and possibly win.

Tye Evers with the Huron Tigers was a force against the Patriots grabbing 14 rebounds and scoring 19 points, both game highs. Huron was a completely different team and found the basket often.

With seconds left in the game and the Patriots down Higgason again showed his three point ability and nailed one to go up by two. The Tigers looking like they were defeated quickly march down the court and tied it up to take the game to overtime.

Overtime looked much like the first quarter. The Patriots controlled every aspect of the game and were much more physical. They ran away with the game and allowed only one point to their 10. The final score was 56-47.

It was a great game to watch with both teams showing their own dominance at certain points but the true difference was the bench play. The Patriots bench outscored the Tigers 7-0 and allowed a much needed rest of the starters without
