Morningside College softball team is at the midway point of their season and it’s looking to be a great year for them.

The Mustangs started their season swinging and jumped out to an impressive 8-0 record which included a big 7-0 win against a strong Dickinson State team that competed in the NAIA World Series last year.

The Mustangs then hit a bit of a drought going 5-5 in their next 10 games in some tough away tournament but quickly bounced back.

They are currently on a 12 game win streak heading into a double header against Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, South Dakota this Thursday followed by a tough double header at home this weekend against Concordia.

The Mustangs are currently ranked 14th in the country and have been outscoring their opponents 4-1 in the games they win scoring 194 runs to 48.

The games they have lost, which you can count on one hand, have been against some top notch opponents outside of conference play in various tournaments throughout the country.

Currently the Mustangs record is 25-5 and they sit on top of the GPAC rankings at 6-0.

Since this article was written the Mustangs swept Dakota Wesleyan and then split with Concordia ending their win streak at 15 games for a 28-6 record.
