The Lady Cardinals basketball team is proving they are still the team to beat in the Siouxland area with big wins against Sioux City West, Sioux City East and Norfolk High. The wins bring their record to 11-1 with their only loss to a national powerhouse at the Orlando, Florida tournament they attended last month.

Last week the Lady Cardinals visited 8-1 Sioux City West and walked away with a 56-54 win. The game was back and forth with the Cardinals leading 27-22 going into halftime. The Wolverines however, came out at halftime scoring 20 points in the third quarter and led by nine points going into the fourth quarter. The Lady Cardinals quickly responded with 17 of their own in the fourth to regain the lead and take the win. Kori Fischer stepped up big scoring seven of her nine points in the final minutes of the game and her two free throws sealed the win for the Cardinals. Augusta Thramer had 20 points in the win.

It has been quite a ride for the Lady Cardinals so far this year and it’s only going to get better. This week they begin the River Cities Conference with games against Ralston on Friday and then Beatrice on Saturday both on the road followed by the RCC Tournament on Monday.

Good luck Lady Cardinals!!!
