The Warriors started out on fire against 4A rival Sioux City North on Friday night. Chris Kroll seemed to have the magic touch as he swished three 3-pointers in the first quarter alone. As the leading SB-L scorer, Kroll would finish the game with a total of 25 points.
Also heavily helping the team, Jackson Wright put up a 3-point play amidst Kroll’s threes when he was fouled on a made shot. Wright was the second leading scorer for Sgt. Bluff with 13 points.
Just behind Wright, Jacob Shultz put up 12 points throughout the night. Shultz was another hot-hander, scoring three more SB-L threes to tie it up towards the beginning of the third quarter. The Warriors fought to keep up as the clock was winding down, but North hit a three at the buzzer to put them up by 6 going into the final minutes.
Some big plays by the Stars allowed them to remain on top for the rest of the night, though SB-L did their best to stay with ‘em. Led by Andrew Christensen who had 9 rebounds and Keegan Savary with 6, the Warriors battled ‘til the end.
A game that started out hopeful, ended in disappointment, but such is the sport of basketball.
