Pearl Harbor will be a day remembered and talked about the rest of my life and the next. 75 years later we still read about it and watch memorial tributes on TV. One thing that I learned was that out of the 2,400 victims there are about 600 deaths that were never identified. They are currently buried in gravesites in Hawaii with gravestones that read “unknown”.
I cannot possibly imagine what it was like to never have a proper burial for your loved ones, let alone having to attend one. The unknown soldiers who served our country and gave their life is the ultimate sacrifice for your country and I am thankful for those who have served and who currently do.
I’ve never even thought about this. So sad to hear that so many people never had a proper burial.
wow, i cannot imagine. i love this write up. it puts things in perspective.
