David Wingett is a sophomore at Winnebago Public High School; he is a 6’5” starter for the Winnebago Indians boys’ basketball team. He averages 18.2 points per game. David has been playing since he was in 5th grade. He plans on playing in the future; he mostly wants to go to UNL. His best memory of playing is getting his first dunk in 8th grade in an AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) game.
One question I asked David was, “Is there anyone who inspires you to keep achieving? Who? Why?’’
He said “My mom, she does so much for me and I just want to make her proud.”
Another question I asked David was, “Is there any moment that you will cherish forever while playing sports?”
He said, “Playing with my older brother Mathew.”
David’s family is very supportive and proud of him. We, as a community, are proud to call him one of our own.
